About AIP Publishing

The AIP Publishing portfolio includes 31 publications across a broad spectrum of research areas. With research, reviews, and news covering a wide range of subject areas that impact a diverse set of industries, AIP Publishing offers more than just physics. Our portfolio offers scientists, engineers and students a foundation of interdisciplinary and emerging research, both basic and applied, that shape the future of research and development. Covering many subject areas that span several industries, our publications provide readers with access to research across the physical science spectrum.

Global Reach and Outstanding Quality

In 2016, researchers from nearly 4,000 institutions across the world accessed 27M abstracts and 25M+ articles on scitation.org. As we continue to offer the scientific community the latest in emerging research, we strive to publish content that pave the way for research and development across the physical sciences. In the past year more than 17,000 articles were published with global authorship. Continuing to excel across three subject areas, there are several journals that have been acknowledged as the “most cited” within Applied Physics, Fluids & Plasma Physics, and Atomic, Molecular & Chemical Physics.

Fast Publication Times

As the pace of international research accelerates, speed to publication is increasingly important to scientists in all disciplines. AIP Publishing has undertaken a series of strategic moves to reduce the time to publication for our peer-reviewed publications, with impressive results. Since 2012, the time to publication has improved by 10% for all AIP Publishing journals and the average number of days from submission-to-publication in the Journal of Applied Physics dropped has dropped from 139 in 2012 to 106 days in 2016, a 24% reduction.

Number of Peer Reviewers in 2016

In 2016, 23,950 individuals served as peer reviewers for AIP Publishing, providing balanced, actionable feedback to advance the research and careers of AIP Publishing authors. In that same year, 99% of articles published benefited from significant reviewer input.
